Bloomberg & LSEG Terminals: User Guidance

Welcome to the Financial Markets Research Hub. These specialized workstations are provided exclusively for academic, research, and educational purposes. To ensure a productive, secure, and respectful environment for everyone, please adhere to the following operational guidelines.

1. Access & Security

  • Authorized Users Only: Access to these terminals is strictly restricted to authorized institutional users.
  • Restricted Access: Entry to and use of the Bloomberg and LSEG Terminal area is restricted to users with a valid Bloomberg/LSEG terminal booking.
  • Purpose-Built Terminals: The terminals are exclusively designated for accessing Bloomberg and LSEG resources. General web browsing, access to other Library-subscribed electronic resources, email, social media, or any other general computing activities are strictly prohibited.
  • Credential Security: You must use only your own assigned login credentials. Sharing accounts or passwords is strictly prohibited.
  • Session Management: Always log out of the terminal and close all open applications before leaving the workstation to protect your account security.

2. Device & Technical Policies

  • Personal Devices: Laptops, tablets, or other personal computing devices are not permitted in the terminal area unless explicitly authorized by the Librarian.
  • System Integrity: Do not tamper with, alter, or modify any terminal hardware, software, peripherals, network settings, or system configurations.
  • Software & Hardware Restrictions:
    • Installation of external software or downloading unauthorized applications is strictly prohibited.
    • Do not connect external storage devices (e.g., USB drives) to the terminals.
  • Workstation Layout: Do not move, unplug, or rearrange furniture, equipment, cables, keyboards, or monitors.

3. Data Management & Compliance

  • Permitted Use: All data, news, analytics, screenshots, and reports must be used strictly in accordance with the Bloomberg and LSEG License Agreements and institutional policies.
  • No Commercial Sharing: Unauthorized commercial use, redistribution, or external sharing of vendor content is strictly prohibited.
  • Data Backups: Regular data wipes are performed automatically to maintain terminal performance.
    Important: You must back up your downloaded or processed data to your personal cloud drive. Nalanda LIC is not responsible for any data left locally on the terminal.

4. Lab Etiquette & Environment

  • Noise Control: Maintain silence at all times. Mobile phones must be kept on silent mode, and phone calls are not permitted inside the terminal area.
  • Audio & Certification: Use your own headphones/headsets when completing Bloomberg certification courses. Loudspeakers are not allowed. Please disconnect your audio device when you are finished.
  • Prohibited Items: Food, beverages, sleeping, and loud conversations are strictly prohibited in this zone.
  • Cleanliness: Ensure your workstation is left clean, organized, and in proper working condition for the next user.

5. Maintenance, Damage, & Liability

  • Reporting Issues: Report any malfunctions, technical glitches, or equipment damage immediately to the Library staff. Do not attempt to fix hardware issues yourself.
Policy Area Terms & Conditions
User Liability Any loss or damage caused by negligence or misuse is the sole responsibility of the user, who may be required to bear the full cost of repair or replacement.
Personal Property Nalanda LIC is not liable for the loss of any personal property left in the terminal area.
Enforcement The Library reserves the right to suspend or revoke terminal access for any misuse or violation of these guidelines.

All users must comply with LIC rules and institutional licensing policies at all times.
